At Design Interviews

Interview with ANNA MORAITOU : Frank Scott: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?. ANNA MORAITOU : I was inspired by a chess game and the alternation of white and black boxes. The idea was each one of these boxes to have a different size and colour so to set apart little things that usually are spread around our living room. .Frank Scott: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?. ANNA MORAITOU : I wanted this piece of furniture to interact with the room it would be placed in, by repeating these boxes on the wall or on the side. .Frank Scott: What are your future plans for this award winning design?. ANNA MORAITOU : To sell or lease the production rights, or sell it separately to individuals. I plan to use this award to promote other designs as well. .Frank Scott: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?. ANNA MORAITOU : This was a brainstorming idea and the drawings came out very quickly. I would say a couple of weeks. .Frank Scott: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?. ANNA MORAITOU : This design was commissioned by a family, looking for a "pop" coffee table with storage space. Since it was supposed to be placed inside a small apartment, it had to be mobile and compact. .Frank Scott: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?. ANNA MORAITOU : Individuals or preferably manufacturing companies that would like to buy or rent the production rights. .Frank Scott: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?. ANNA MORAITOU : The fact that there are different hidden cabinets of different size and colour, to put little objects or paper separated. .Frank Scott: How did you come up with the name for this design?
