Pai
Pai is a series of four digital illustrations about loneliness. The series presents loneliness as an endless loop, showing the feeling as a complex state rather than a single experience. Lines, colors and forms are used to express isolation and the wish for connection. Rich colors and detailed figurative elements carry the narrative. The illustrations were drawn on a tablet with a digital painting application, at a size of 2048 by 2048 pixels. The work responds to reduced personal contact during the pandemic. Prints are planned for galleries and digital versions for online exhibitions.
Pai Illustration by Cheng Xiangsheng was featured as a grand representation of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Pai Illustration earned the Iron A' Design Award in Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design in 2023. The A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design recognition program that rewards excellent design of logos, posters, infographics, brochures, packaging designs, business cards, book covers, billboards and more.
