Confucius Aesthetics Illustration

Confucius Aesthetics

Confucius Aesthetics is a series of illustrations created to present the aesthetic values of Confucius. The series uses metaphorical imagery to express ideas such as national prosperity, social harmony, equality and love of country. Traditional Chinese auspicious motifs, including bronze ware, jade pendants, the phoenix, auspicious clouds and the elk, are combined to form the outer frame of each illustration. The drawings were made with digital painting software and printed in rich colours. The series aims to support the study and wider sharing of traditional culture.

Confucius Aesthetics Illustration by Chunli Zhou was selected as a creative illustration of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Confucius Aesthetics Illustration was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design in 2025. The A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design prize which celebrates outstanding design of logos, posters, infographics, brochures, packaging designs, business cards, book covers, billboards and more.
